2 What is Conflict? In literature, a conflict is a struggle between two opposing forces. The conflict is what drives the plot forward. Without a conflict, there isn’t a story!

3 Types of Internal Conflict
An internal conflict takes place inside a character’s mind. Man vs. Self: In this type of conflict, a person struggles with difficult emotions or decisions

4 Types of External Conflict
An external conflict takes place between a character and an outside force. Man vs. Man: Two characters argue/have an issue Man vs. Society: The character faces a social issue, like inequality Man vs. Nature: The character struggles with nature, such as making it through a storm. Man vs. Fate: The character struggles to deal with his/her own fate. For instance, Spider Man must accept his super-human abilities.
