Unsafe personal conduct affecting the work of administrators By Amie, Cortney and Emily Unsafe personal conduct affecting the work of administrators

Employers for a company need to ensure: They provide and maintain safety equipment and safe systems of work materials used are properly stored, handled, used and transported They provide information, training, instruction and supervision - ensure staff are aware of instructions provided by manufacturers and suppliers of equipment They provide a safe working environment They provide a written safety policy/risk assessment They look after the health and safety of others,

Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 is a legislation that covers the health, safety and the welfare of the workplace. The Health and Safety Act protects employees and employers from danger and serious injuries in a workplace. If employees and employers do not comply with the act, they could be fined, took to court or even imprisoned. Safety signs should be displayed around the work environment, for example: Drinking water Slippery floors Toilets (times they were cleaned) Active Electricity Fire exit & Extinguishers

Safety at work – Hazards It is the employers responsibility to ensure all employees wear the correct protective clothing to prevent accidents and injuries. If a potential hazard occurs you should report to your manager immediately or any superior. This is to prevent any further incidents. To prevent accidents in a place of work, all employees must follow the safety rules given. The following are examples of what could be an unsafe conduct in a work environment and what to do to prevent them: Keep all safety exits clear (no boxes or equipment in the way) Do not carry heavy equipment without using a trolley Do not leave chairs away from desks when not used Tidy all wires (out of the way to prevent tripping) Make sure all dangerous chemicals are securely stored and labelled Make sure drawers and cupboards are not left open
