3 Health & Safety at Work Act
The Act gives a statutory duty for Nu- Heat UK Limited to look after your health, safety and welfare Regulations – what Nu-Heat must do to comply with the Act

4 Our Responsibilities to you
Provide a safe place of work and have safe systems of work To have arrangements for the safe storage and transport To provide information, instruction and training Provide safe access and egress Provide adequate environmental and welfare arrangements Make available a safety policy document Consult on matters relating to health and safety

5 Health & Safety at Work Act
Duties of Employees: To take reasonable care of the Health & Safety of themselves & others affected by their acts or omissions. To co-operate with the requirements and duties imposed on the employer to enable those requirements and duties to be complied with.

6 Safety Policy Contains: General procedures for: Emergencies First Aid Fire Information about the arrangements and particular hazards that have been identified.

7 Safety Signs Green signs provide safety guidance information First aid, Emergency Exits

8 Fire If you discover a fire:
In all cases, activate the fire alarms via break glass panel This will summon the rescue team and the fire service, and alert others to evacuate the building. Go to the assembly point Only use a fire extinguisher if you have been trained to do so and are confident in tackling the fire Get out and stay out

9 Fire Extinguisher Types

10 Risk Assessments Before undertaking any task, always identify the hazard and assess the risks. Then implement the control measures required to remove or minimise the risk before starting work. All practical work must have a risk assessment, the risk assessment folder will be available in your work area.

11 Hazardous Substances Keep quantities you are working with to the minimum required Transport with care; in proper containers Always label containers Always wash your hands after handling chemicals and do not eat, drink or smoke Always dispose of waste correctly

12 Electrical Safety There is always a risk when working with electricity, particularly supplies over 120 volts Before using any electrical apparatus, check the equipment has been tested for safety Special care should be taken when using portable tools, inspect the cables and plugs before use When working on live circuits or equipment where authorised to do so, use supplies that are protected by RCD’s.

13 Manual Handling Many accidents on site are caused by manual handling incidents. Assess the weight before you move anything Break into smaller loads if possible Get help if needed Use lifting equipment provided

14 Display Screen Equipment
Will be subject to an ergonomic assessment You will be entitled to eye tests You must report any problem or defects to your line Manager You will be trained in making adjustments to your chair and work station

15 Fork Lift Trucks / Machinery
You must not operate a FLT unless you have been trained and authorised You must not operate any machinery unless you have been instructed on it’s safe operation.

16 Keep Areas Tidy Many accidents are caused by untidy sites Trailing leads, spills not cleaned up, waste building materials, new materials Always keep your work area tidy.

17 Incident & Accident Reporting
Report all accidents and incidents to your line Manager even if no injury was caused. Your Manager will make inquiries and take action to prevent it happening to someone else.
