Presentation transcript:

DO NOW! 10-18-17 RHETHORIC REVIEW RE-WRITE THE SENTENCE CORRECTLY FOR EACH ARTICLE AND SPEECH. THE ARTICLE “WHAT IS RHETORIC” HELPED ME TO LEARN THAT EFFECTIVE SPEAKING AND WRITING IS NECESSARY TO FORM AN ARGUMENT. CATT PROVED THAT THIS WHOLE IDEA OF WOMEN SUFFRAGE PROVES THAT WOMEN CAN ACHIEVE ANY GOAL THEY DESIRE. UPTON SINCLAIR EXPOSED THE MEAT PACKING INDUSTRY SO THAT THE CONSUMERS WOULD BE AWARE OF THE SWINDLES. “A FABLE FOR TOMORROW” HYPOTHETICALLY PAINTED A PICTURE OF A TOWN THAT WAS DYING FROM DDT. THOMAS PAINE HELPED US CONNECT TO THE REALIZATION THAT THE COLONIES WERE SEGREGATED AND TREATED WITH DISRESPECT AND NEEDED TO BREAK AWAY FROM BRITISH CONTROL.

LEARNING TARGET I CAN RECALL THE RHETORICAL DEVICES USED IN ARTICLES AND SPEECHES, AS WELL AS THE MAIN IDEAS, FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE USED AND WORD USAGE IN UNIT ONE OF MY NINE WEEKS OF STUDY IN ENGLISH 10.

Why is this important? A REVIEW OF CLASS WORK WILL UNCOVER WHAT I HAVE LEARNED IN THIS CLASS AND ALLOW ME TO MOVE FORWARD IN MY STUDIES!

TASK STUDENTS WILL REVIEW CLASSWORK IN GROUPS. THE FIRST PERSON TO STAND (YOU MAY NOT BE WRITING WHEN YOU STAND) WITH THE CORRECT RESPONSE, THEIR GROUP WILL RECEIVE 1 POINT. IF YELLING And/or SCREAMING BEGINS, THE REVIEW GAME WILL CEASE AND STUDENTS WILL COMPLETE THE ITEMS INDIVIDUALLY AND SUBMIT AS TICKET OUT THE DOOR. WRITE YOUR GROUP #, NAMES AND THE PERIOD ON A SHEET OF PAPER.
