All About Me & Where I live Mrs Holden and Mr Marland English Poetry The children will listen to and share acrostic poems that describe a setting and characters. This will build upon their understanding of adjectives and encourage them to use adjectives in their writing. Fiction In line with our work on the Primary Writing Project we will be learning the story The Tiger Who Came To Tea by Judith Kerr using story maps and actions and focus on describing the characters using adjectives. We will then create some stories of our own based upon the book. Non-fiction The children will be learning what labels and captions are used for within non-fiction text and writing their own labels and captions. They will make maps and plans and they will express their own views about places and environments and use appropriate geographical vocabulary. Science Animals including humans Linked with our Non-Fiction unit in English the children will be naming and labelling main parts of the body and identify how people are different. They will explore how we change as we get older and investigate the different senses.   Seasonal Changes We will be making observations on the weather, temperature and what the trees look like at this time of year. Computing Instructions The children will be taught about algorithms and learn how to control a Beebot. This will be linked with Geography and our trip to Verdin Park by using Beebots and programming them to follow a simple map. Creating Text and Images Linked with our Science we will be using a labelling program on the Ipads to label parts of the human body.
