Leeds Social Value Charter Our vision is for Leeds to be a healthy, fair, compassionate and caring city where everyone benefits from the city’s economic growth. We believe that all sectors and partners, of Leeds’ many and diverse communities make important contributions to the success of the city, real added value and benefit will be achieved and we will get the greatest possible return on investment by: promoting social responsibility; building social capital and delivering social value.

…………………………………………………………………………………… Aims of the Charter …………………………………………………………………………………… Shared commitment by partners in the city to promote social responsibility and social value Support the maximisation of the Leeds £ Goes beyond the obligations of the Public Services (Social Value) act Approved by Exec Board with formal launch and sign up by partners on 24th May 2016 Partners signed up to date – Cross Directorate Support (LCC), CCGs, Universities and Third Sector Build on existing good practice

Examples of SV …………………………………………………………………………………… Creating employment opportunities for unemployed people through commissioned housing related support services Incinerator Contract (jobs/training for local people, environmental awareness and visitor centre, Trust funding for Leeds projects) Contractors developing a Social Value Plan ( the plan identifies social, environmental and economic outcomes to be achieved and they report on this bi-monthly) Construction activity (employment and skills outputs, waste and environmental performance, links to other frameworks which in turn supports other industries)

Employment and Skills outputs delivered …………………………………………………………………………………… Little London, Beeston Hill and Holbeck new housing and housing improvements 108 people supported into Jobs (23 from local wards, 18 from other Leeds postcodes, 67 from outside of Leeds) 681 jobs safeguarded for Leeds residents 52 project initiated apprentices have spent 3,765 weeks on site 168 weeks of work experience (16 – 18 yrs and over 18 yrs)
