OUTLINE Introduction to DEV-INFO database Objectives of the Database Genesis of Eko-Info database Introduction to Eko-Info database Navigating through the User Interface of Eko-Info database Eko-Info as at today Accessing Eko-Info Screen Shots Challenges Next Step

Introduction to DEV-INFO Dev-Info 6.0 is a general purpose database system for the collation and presentation of data on human development. The software supports both standard and user- defined indicators. Although, the MDGs indicators are at the core of the package, it can also accomodate user defined indicators as well.

Introduction to DEV-INFO cont. Dev-Info as a database is a tool for organizing, storing and presenting data in a uniform way to facilitate data sharing at the country level across government departments, UN agencies and development partners. Dev-Info is originally created for the purpose of monitoring human development with the specific purpose of monitoring the Millennium Development Goals.

Objectives of database To ensure availability of wide range of data/development indicators across the sectors. To give room to data / indicators comparison along geographical divide nationally and internationally. To serve as one stop shop for data warehousing on Lagos Specific information. To provide supportive information for policy formulation and documentation To assist in effective Monitoring and Evaluation of programmes and projects.

Genesis of Eko-Info database The process to the development of the database commenced in 2006 by UNICEF through UNFPA in 2010 due to the need to ensure improved data collation and presentation. DevInfo techiques was introduced as worldwide Management Information System (MIS) Outfit. Consists of two (2) Modules : User interface Module : Data Administration Module Default data were used during user interface module

Genesis of Eko-Info database....2/ Data Admin. Module was populated using Lagos specific data produced locally, nationally and internationally. Eko-Info was originally designed to capture the routine data collected by the Lagos Bureau of Statistics on behalf of the state. The end product was termed “ EKO- INFO” EKO- INFO database was created in Y2012 and populated with Lagos State specific data and indicators up to Y2010

Introduction to Eko-Info database USER INTERFACE – As the name goes, it is meant for users with the objectives listed earlier. The regular steps includes: Searching for and selection of indicators, Choosing the geographical areas of interest, Selecting the time period, Indicating the sources of the data and Displaying the chosen indicators in graphs, tables and maps.

Data Administration Module This Stage remains the most fundamental stage of the Dev Info database creation. It involves twelve (12) levels of rigorous activities: namely: Data Template, Data entry, Data Management Tools, Reports,

Data Admin. Module ......2/ Metadata, Data exchange, Data Mapping, Language, Customization, Gallery, Emergency Info and Standards.

Procedure for the Eko-Info creation Formation of Technical Team comprising 10 Eko-Info Champions. Identification of indicators. Conduct data inventory by sources. i.e. pre-data validation. Establish a digital map library. Develop a data entry plan based on list of indicators and sources identified for inclusion in the database. Establish data quality control i.e. post-data validation. Customization. Responsibility for data entry be defined to ensure database is up-to-date.

Eko-Info as at today It has been further designed to capture data against Classification of Functions of Government (COFOG). Templates and few data on Budget-Info and Med-Info were created and captured as separate sub-database on the platform. Resulting in Eko-Info 2.1
