3 United Nations Statistics Division What is CensusInfo? CCensusInfo is a database system specifically designed for disseminating census data on the web and CD-ROM DDeveloped by UNSD in partnership with UNICEF and UNFPA BBased on DevInfo technology platform OOfficially launched in February 2009 at the 40 th session of the United Nations Statistical Commission

4 United Nations Statistics Division  Census data dissemination is one of three main goals of the 2010 World Programme on Population and Housing Census as approved by the UN Statistical Commission at its 36 th session (March 2005) Initiative  UNSD tasked with assisting countries in their efforts to disseminate census results effectively and timely  Dissemination has been the weakest phase in population and housing census operations

5 United Nations Statistics Division  Develop a software solution to facilitate the dissemination of census results fulfilling the following minimum criteria: Objectives  Easy to implement and easy to use  Free to use  Dissemination of census data at any geographical level  Able to generate census-specific outputs  Customization for country-specific requirements  Dissemination on the web and CD-ROM
