THANK YOU The tsunami flooded coastal areas, wiped away homes and buildings, roads and bridges, water and electricity supplies, crops, irrigation and fishery infrastructure, food and fuel networks. Millions of people have seen their families and communities torn apart. The trauma caused by this devastating catastrophe cannot be underestimated. GETTING EXACT FIGURES ARE DIFFICULT – Compare above with IFRC figures 23 Feb 2005: 286,000 dead; 7,800 missing; 2.4 million affected; 1.64 million displaced; 507,496 homeless.
