AGENDA Types of change experienced by an organization The challenges of implementing change Technique for leading change Developing transformational leaders in your organization The impact of transformational leaders Creating an organization culture through transformational leadership The Office of Transformation and Change Management

Types of Change Experienced By An Organization Corporate Change (Internal) - Transformational Change: Old state forced out. New state emerges from visioning, trial and error, and learning. - Developmental Change: Improvement of what’s already established. It’s change that enhances or corrects existing aspects of an organization, often focusing on the improvement of a skill or process. National Change Global Change

The Challenges of Implementing Change Complete Buy-in: The change process and ultimately the results of the organizational change is understood by leadership, management, and lower level employees alike. Leadership Competency: Leaders leading the change process must be capable of initiating, developing, and sustaining the change initiative to ensure alignment with organizational strategies. Allowing too much complacency: Failing to make a sufficiently compelling case for change and allowing people within the organization to believe that the status quo is a viable option for the organization.

The Challenges of Implementing Change Failing to identify supporters of change: This leads to a focus on dealing with resisters rather than identifying, and utilizing, those who identify with the change and are able to influence others within the organization. Under-communicating the vision for change: - Relying on formal and rational communication of the change vision. Successful organizations communicate the vision on a face-to-face basis and leaders discuss the vision on an ongoing basis.

Technique For Leading Change Create an atmosphere of necessity for change Recruit appropriate personnel within organization with common understanding of required changes Create a conceivable image of the organization after the change Relentlessly communicate the vision for change Set the course and remove all obstacles Identify short-term targets of success to facilitate quick wins to celebrate and build on Conduct frequent “lessons learned/after action” reviews
