Presentation transcript:

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? (John 11:25-26) See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil; … I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, … . (Deuteronomy 30:15,19) Life & Good Death & Evil

Choose – Types of Choices 1. Unable Unable due to age or mental ability. Safe due to Christ's atonement. 2. Unwilling Unwilling to commit due to social influences, economic pressure or previous experience. Lost, often kind and will listen to the gospel, consider themselves tolerant yet are easily manipulated by the religious elite. 3. Rejectors Openly choose to reject the gospel. Lost and actively oppose the claims of Jesus Christ in their life and actively seek to draw others to their convictions. Always contemptuous of true believers and the unwilling crowd.

Choose – Types of Choices 4. True believers Openly choose to receive the gospel. Saved, born again, justified, sanctified, a child of God, a home in heaven, eternal life. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. (John 1:12) Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. (John 5:24) Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference. (Romans 3:22) In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise. (Ephesians 1:13)

Choose – Believers' Choices 1. Carnal Religious but not spiritual. Self centered. Justify self while condemning others. Live worldly lives. For ye are yet carnal … . (1 Corinthians 3:3) Why do true believers choose to live carnal lives? Little or no personal fellowship with with Jesus. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth. (1 John 1:6) Deception. They believe the old man (nature) is stronger than the new man (nature). For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. (Romans 6:14) Little or no fellowship with other true believers. Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. (Hebrews 10:25)

Choose – Believers' Choices 1. Carnal Religious but not spiritual. Self centered. Justify self while condemning others. Live worldly lives. For ye are yet carnal … . (1 Corintians 3:3) What is the result when believers live a carnal life? Death and destruction as they are following a dead man (old man). For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. (Romans 8:6) An unprofitable life. Total defeat for self, and totally unprofitable for others. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. (1 Corinthians 3:15)

Choose – Believers' Choices 2. Spiritual Walk in the Spirit. Live by faith. Are a blessing to others … ye which are spiritual, … . (Galatians 6:1) … desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. (Colossians 1:9) Why do true believers choose to live spiritual lives? Because it is natural to follow the new man. But ye have not so learned Christ; If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. (Efesians 4:20-24) Desire to experience the power of God in our lives. That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death … . (Philippians 3:10)

(Colossians 1:9) What is the result when believers live a spiritual life? Enjoy the fruit of the Spirit. This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. … But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. (Galatians 5:16, 22-23) Enjoy the victory of living by faith. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. (1 John 5:4) Share the love of Christ. … God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. (2 Corinthians 5:19-20)
