Edinburgh Castle – History Attraction

Edinburgh Castle is a world famous icon of Scotland and part of the Old and New Towns of Edinburgh’s World Heritage Site. This most famous of Scottish castles has a complex building history. The oldest part, St Margaret's Chapel, dates from the 12th century; the Great Hall was erected by James IV around 1510; the Half Moon Battery by the Regent Morton in the late 16th century; and the Scottish National War Memorial after the First World War The castle houses the Honours (Crown Jewels) of Scotland, the Stone of Destiny, the famous 15th century gun Mons Meg, the One O' Clock Gun and the National War Museum of Scotland.

Loch Katrin a heart of Scotland

Loch Katrine is a 13km-long fresh water loch in the heart of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. Set in the centre of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, the name Loch Katrine comes from the Gaelic cateran meaning Highland robber. Its popular attractions and the natural beauty of the mountainous landscape surrounding the loch itself. Many visit in order to experience a ride on the historic steamship Sir Walter Scott; the 115-ton ship has been carrying visitors the loch since 1900, with sightseeing cruises departing from the Trossachs Pier multiple times a day between April and October.

Catering The Brenachoile Café - Restaurant - Bar After your cruise on Loch Katrine – or your day spent exploring The Trossachs, relax in The Brenachoile at Loch Katrine, open all day and always serving the freshest food, along with a warm welcome.

Activities Alternative activities at Loch Katrine include cycling; bicycles (including tandems and electric bikes) are available to hire for an hour or longer for adults and children.

Directions to the Attractions Located roughly an hour from Glasgow, Loch Katrine is easily accessible by car or public transport and allows for a scenic journey through the Trossachs The Trossachs Trundler provides a seasonal public bus service on a circular route between Callander and Aberfoyle that travels via Trossachs Pier, taking visitors directly to the loch.
