All about the author Gregory Payan This author has a French heritage, which peaked his interest in learning more about the relationship between the French and the American people He got his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, Long Island University He is married and lives in New York

Why I Chose this Book I chose this book because Lafayette is my favorite of all time historical figure. He is my favorite hero because… He was French but he helped the American cause He was loyal to George Washington and the Patriots Even though Lafayette went through a family crisis he persevered/never gave up

My Opinion I loved this book because… I disliked the book because… It was something that I have an interest in which is history It was a biography about one of my two favorite historical figures, Lafayette It was interesting to learn about Lafayette’s family I learned that Louis XV and Louis XVI were the rulers of France during Lafayette’s life I disliked the book because… It was not well written It wasn’t interesting because I already knew lots of the facts My Opinion

Conflicts Lafayette was an orphan The French kings did not want Lafayette to sail across the Atlantic Ocean to America, so he had to secretly buy a ship and crew and leave from Spain instead of France His second child died at the age of 2 and a half At his first battle, the Battle of Brandywine Creek, he got shot in the upper thigh

Explanation of Characters Marquis de Lafayette had a tight relationship with these two people. Adrienne Ayer-Noailles She married at the age of fourteen and had four children with Lafayette. George Washington called Lafayette his son because of their friendship.

Outcome Lafayette went to America to help fight in the American Revolution against the orders of the kings of France He earned the respect of the Americans, including George Washington, the Commander in Chief of the American Continental Army, for his leadership and bravery His actions brought America and France closer together and helped America win the war against the British He later escaped from prison in France in the Napoleon era
