Malala Class 9.9.16 Name……………………………………………… Homework Grid for September and October. Please bring in at least one piece of homework by Wednesday of each week to earn 2 Table Tokens for each piece. Final date – Wednesday 26th October. Basic skills Practise your Learn-its three times a week. (See school website) Research headwear from different time periods. Design a futuristic outfit using the outline provided or design a new kit for your favourite sports team. Research how uniforms have changed over time for either a police officer, a nurse, a firefighter or a soldier. Read for a minimum of 10 minutes, at least four times a week. Design and make a male and female outfit, from the Victorian period, to dress the two wooden clothes pegs provided. Learn our new Bible quote for our Christian value of responsibility: ‘For each of you have to carry your own load.’ Galatians 6:5 Then find a story in the Bible about responsibility.   Write a diary entry for one day, imagining you were Bill from ‘Bill’s new Frock’. How did you feel? Did other people treat you differently? Learn your spellings (either your new list given every 2 weeks or put the ones you have learnt into sentences). Write a list of solids, liquids and gases. Use the internet to research these. Learn the multiplication and division facts for the 3 and 4 times tables. Learn one of the attached poems. Be ready to recite it to the class in school. Practise using expression and actions to make it lively and entertaining.

My Hat Here's my hat. It holds my head, the thoughts I've had Top Hat The Top Hat is the king of hats The toppest of them all And when you put one on your noggin Even when you're jumping and jogging The Top Hat won't fall   Don't be bowled over by the Bowler Don't get in a flap about the Cap Because I've seen it all with the Baseball And you don't seem like a Ten Gallon chap Don't get fed up with the Fedora The Fez will just look like a mess I'm not a fan-a-ma of the Panama The Top Hat is the one that fits best Don't mess up your hair cut with a helmet Don't be a hero and wear a sombrero Don't think you're urban by wearing a turban Without a Top Hat you'll just be a zero So spare a thought for your head and your hair And sport some classy headwear Choose the right hat And don't come a'cropper Because only a Top Hat Will look more proper than proper. My Hat Here's my hat. It holds my head, the thoughts I've had and the things I've read. It keeps out the wind. It keeps off the rain. It hugs my hair and warms my brain. There's me below it, the sky above it. It's my lid. And I love it. Tony Mitton
