Presentation transcript:

Welcome Prospective Transitional kindergarten and Kindergarten Parents

Procedures School begins at 8:30. A staff member will be present every morning on the playground at 8:15. Please say good-bye to your children inside the playground area. All parent visitors and volunteers must sign-in at the office before going into the building. Younger siblings need to stay at home. All visitors to classrooms must give teachers at least 24 hour notice to ensure minimal disruptions to the classroom. All Kindergarten students have access to indoor restrooms by Mrs. Prado’s class. To ensure their safety, all students will use the restroom with a class buddy and/or a parent volunteer. Please encourage your Kindergartener to use the restroom right before coming to school in the morning, so that classroom disruption is minimized.

First day procedures: 8/14 All classes line up at the playground Students cannot be dropped off until 8:15 when there is a teacher on yard duty Look for the chair with your child’s teacher’s name Line up on the colored line in front of your teacher’s chair For students’ safety, please be prepared to say good-bye to your child in line. We don’t want any lines broken up and students getting lost on their way to class Teachers will clarify where students can be picked up at 1:50 Students can bring a stuffed animal on the first day Dismissal procedures: We dismiss one student at a time and ask that any adult picking up is listed on the emergency card

Student materials We appreciate any donations or materials for student materials “Wish list” of materials are on the website and posted in the front office Please do not bring anything on the supply list until the second week of school Please label everything with a permanent marker School-sized backpacks and labeled lunchboxes are nice and can come starting the first day Lunch money can be turned into the front office in a labeled envelope or you can use ezschoolpay.com Snacks are not provided

Collaboration with home Research shows that students who read 20 minutes/daily have a higher chance of academic success It can be in ANY language Pediatricians recommend 10-12 hours of sleep for 4-5 year olds Please help with a healthy breakfast daily Ideally, students should have a quiet work space at home with Glue stick Scissors Crayons Pencil Notebook
