2. Kindergarten Adventure
The First Week and a half of Kindergarten will be different!
Your child will not be assigned to a specific teacher, but will instead rotate through all of the kindergarten classrooms and enjoy the teaching styles of each unique kindergarten teacher.
On Wednesday, August 22, a letter will be sent home stating who your child’s teacher will be for Kindergarten.
Please have your child wear tennis shoes each day so that he/she will be comfortable and be prepared for PE.

3. Kindergarten Adventure
The First Week of Kindergarten will be different!
Your child will be given a colorful paper loop showing how they get home from school each day. The loop will be attached to their backpack. Please leave it on their backpack.
Beginning the first day of school, students will have a 10 minute snack time. Snacks will be NOT be provided, they must be brought from home. Snacks need to be healthy and easy to eat in the classroom (no utensils or heating necessary).

Why Kindergarten Adventure (rotations)?
At Flower Mound our goal is success for all children. We will be balancing each Kindergarten class while meeting the academic needs of every student; much like what we do with our older students in the spring with Falcon Camp.
This proactive and purposeful placement of students will ensure that each unique FME Falcon has an optimal learning environment.
By exposing all kindergarteners to all kindergarten teachers and classrooms, we will promote a grade-level sense of community. All kindergarten teachers will become familiar with all kindergarten students.

5. Kindergarten Adventure
What Will This Look Like?
In each of the kindergarten classrooms your child will be participating in crafts, games, singing, fine-motor activities, and educational lessons which promote cooperation, problem-solving, and a sense of community.
Your child will be assessed on basic number and letter concepts.
Using the information collected, our campus administration will facilitate the kindergarten team in creating classroom groups which balance the academic and social strengths and needs of our Kindergarten students for the school year.

6. Kindergarten Adventure
What Will The First Day of School Look Like?
On Wednesday, August 15: ALL KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS will gather in the cafeteria. Parents are invited to help their child put on his/her name tag and wish them well on their adventure!
A Cheers & Tears meeting for all FME parents will be held on the first day of school at 8:00am in the Cafe, by our PTA. We hope that all Kindergarten parents will attend!

7. Kindergarten Adventure
What Will The First Week of School Look Like?
Kindergarten students and teachers will gather in the cafeteria each morning. On the first day of school, the teachers will be asking how your child goes home.
Students will stay in their assigned group and will rotate through each teacher. On Wednesday, August 22, 2018 students will be placed in their permanent classroom.

8. Kindergarten Adventure
What do I send with my child during Kindergarten Adventure?
If you send a lunchbox with your child, please label it with first and last name.
If you send lunch money with your child, please place it in a Ziploc baggie or envelope labeled with their first and last name.

9. Kindergarten Adventure
Dismissal
Car Riders: Student’s last name will be called when their car arrives. You MUST stay in your car, and your student will be brought to you. The first weeks of school, car line may move slowly. As students become familiar with the process, the line will move quickly.
Bus Riders: Students will line up by bus and will be escorted by a Kindergarten teacher to their bus. Please make sure we know your child’s bus number. If you do not know your child’s bus number, the office can help you. There is also a website where you can type in your information and get the bus number and pickup/drop off times. (

10. Kindergarten Adventure
Dismissal continued:
Walkers: If your kindergartener will be walking home, please plan to meet your child at the exit by the office. If your child is meeting up with a sibling at FME, please make sure that the sibling’s teacher is also aware of the arrangements.
Daycare: All Daycare students will line up in the Kindergarten hallway and will be escorted by a teacher to their daycare lines. Students will remain in their daycare line until their bus arrives. Please make sure we know which daycare your child will be attending.
ESD: All ESD students will line up in the Kindergarten hallways and will be escorted to ESD by a teacher.

11. Kindergarten Adventure
Dismissal continued:
If you need to change the way your child gets home from school during Kindergarten Adventure, please contact the office BEFORE 2:00 pm.
Please try to be consistent with how your child gets home each day. Because students will be rotating classrooms and will be learning so many new routines, keeping your child’s transportation consistent will be very helpful for them and for us!

12. Kindergarten Adventure
Kindergarten Meet the Teacher Night
On Wednesday, August 22, 2018, a letter will be sent home stating who your child’s teacher will be for Kindergarten.
Meet the Teacher Night will be held Thursday night August 23 from 6:00 – 7:00 pm in your child’s permanent classroom. Please arrive on time, as your child’s permanent teacher will be holding an orientation in their classroom. This is an adult only event.
Information about your child’s specific classroom teacher, routines, and schedules will be given at this time.
Please bring your child’s labeled school supplies that night.
