PARTS OF THE SEWING MACHINE

BOBBIN Holds the lower thread

BOBBIN CASE Holds the bobbin

BOBBIN WINDER Puts thread on the bobbin

FEED DOG Moves fabric under needle

FOOT FEED Gives power to the machine

HAND WHEEL Manually controls the machine

PRESSER FOOT LIFTER Raises and lowers the presser foot ALWAYS have the foot DOWN when sewing.

NEEDLE Takes thread through the fabric

NEEDLE RELEASE Keeps needle from moving while bobbin is filling Also called Hand Wheel Loosen Knob

PRESSER FOOT Holds fabric in place Don’t “pop” it!!!

REVERSE CONTROL Makes the machine sew backward (secures stitching)

SEAM GUIDES Measure distance from needle while sewing

SPOOL PIN Holds spool of thread

SLIDE PLATE Covers the bobbin case

STITCH LENGTH REGULATOR Controls the length of the stitches Should be on 2.5

Changes machine from straight stitch to zig-zag STITCH WIDTH CONTROL Changes machine from straight stitch to zig-zag
