2 A. ORDER OF THREADING IN THE UPPER PARTS:
Spool pin Thread guide Between metal disc of tension

4 STEPS: Put the spool of thread on the spool pin.
Bring thread to the thread guide. Pull the thread between the metal disc of the tension.

5 4. Bring the thread up to the thread take up lever and raise it as it goes. 5. Pull the thread down to the thread guide. 6. Pull it through the lower thread guide. 7. Thread the needle.

6 B. THREADING THE LOWER PART:
Remove the bobbin case pulling on the bobbin case latch. Remove the bobbin form the case and wind the thread. Put the bobbin back to the bobbin case and pull the thread through the little slot at least 4 inches long.

7 4. Be sure that you hear the case being locked upon inserting the bobbin case inside the shuttle. 5. Start the mechanism by rolling the balance wheel forward tot get the thread of the bobbin through the needle. 6. Pull the upper lower thread together by 4 inches.

8 HOW TO START MACHINE STITCHING

9 - Start to sew straight lines by practicing on a scrap of fabric
- Start to sew straight lines by practicing on a scrap of fabric. Watch the presser foot while sewing. When sewing material, the bigger toe is used as a guide from folds and edges.

10 Sew exactly on the line, keeping the sides of the presser foot at an even distance from the line.
Continue sewing this time doing parallel lines on plain fabric. Draw curves and machine stitches on the line.

11 If you have gained confidence and control of the machine, you are now ready to sew garment.
Constant practice on sewing will produce good results.

12 CARE OF THE SEWING MACHINE

13 The sewing machine should always be cleaned and oiled for it to run smoothly and quietly.
Always close and cover the machine to protect it from dirt and dust if not in use.

14 Place the folded scrap of cloth between the presser foot , needle down and the feed dog.
Place the machine beside the window , move it carefully but never drag it around.

15 SAFETY PRACTICES WHILE SEWING

16 Light should come from the left side.
Sit erect on the chair. Eyes should be in line with the presser foot.

17 The left foot is placed higher than the right foot.
Use scissors for cutting threads.

18 Use thimble when sewing by hands.
Use the pin cushion for pins and needles.

19 Keep the head and shoulders erect while sewing.
Arrange the units or parts of the garment beside you so as not to be disturbed while sewing.
