"THUD" “Lost Colony” Legend Assignment § Your assignment is to create your own legend describing what happened to the Lost Colony of Roanoke Island § You must incorporate these facts into your legend: - Sir Walter Raleigh sent 110 soldiers, women, and children to NC to found an English settlement - John White was made governor of the 110 settlers - Virginia Dare was born on August 18, 1587, was the first child born in the New World, and was the granddaughter of John White - White went back to England for more supplies and didn’t return until 3 years later in 1590 - When he returned, the settlers were not there and there was no trace of them, except for CRO carved in the tree without a cross over it - No one saw or heard from the Roanoke settlers again § Your legend must be at least one page long and can be typed or handwritten § You must work individually on this assignment § This will be worth 50 points §
