What is a PA? A healthcare professional educated/trained to do many of the tasks traditionally performed by physicians Licensed to practice medicine with supervision of a licensed physician Concerned with preventing, maintaining, and treating human illness and injury by providing a broad range of health care services sammy

PAs are educated in the medical model designed to complement physician training Must take a national certification examination developed by the National Commission on Certification of PAs Must log 100 hours of continuing medical education every 2 years Recertification every ten years Graduation from an accredited physician assistant program(usually 2 year program) Passage of the national certifying exam are required for state licensure kelli
