3 What’s The Mission Of POA?
The mission of the Pre-Optometry Association is to prepare students to delve into the eyes of the optometry profession, while establishing an understanding of the application process, the Optometry Admissions Test (OAT), views from the doctor’s standpoint, and opportunities to participate in volunteer activities. POA will provide a comfortable environment for students with similar interests to come together in helping people view the world with perfect clarity.

4 What is an Optometrist? Optometrists are healthcare professionals who provide primary vision care ranging from sight testing and correction, to the diagnosis, treatment, and management of vision changes.

5 Why Should You Join POA? Gain knowledge on the entire scope of Optometry Get involved by attending meetings, socials, and volunteer events Earn service hours by volunteering for the Orlando and UCF community Earn honor points throughout the semester by attending events Wear your t-shirt to meetings and events to gain extra points! Gain enough points to receive an honor member certificate at the end of the year Boost your application and resume with experiences and extracurricular activities Become eligible for an officer position for the following year

Shirts - 1 point Qualifications: -Minimum of 25 points per semester to become an Honor member at the end of the year! -Must be a paid member -Attend at least one of each of the following events: volunteer, social, and fundraiser *If you have any questions about the Honors system, contact Rachel!

8 VOSH Vosh/International believes in the freedom to see. Providing the gift of vision and eye health to people worldwide. We facilitate the provision and the sustainability of vision care worldwide for people who can neither afford nor obtain such care. Our goal is to increase our global impact whenever possible by supporting sustainable eye clinics, optometry schools and optometric educators in areas lacking sufficient eye care. There are over 75 VOSH regional, state and school chapters worldwide working to accomplish our goals.
