NHS Wales 2010 Multiple Databases and Data Sources Duplication of processes No complete workforce system No ownership of data No standardisation of processes No compliance with MDS Wasted resources Unnecessary repeat training Non compliance with mandatory training Lack of access to management reports Incorrect and incomplete workforce data Delays in data processing Not join up with e-learning Delays in data cleansing Limited access to ESR and IT No real time data intelligence Paper driven processes ESR not fully used NHS Wales 2010

The WfIS Vision TIME COST DATA MANAGERS STAFF Data to be entered only once, electronically, as early as possible in the process COST All staff data to be accurate, consistent and available at minimum resource cost DATA Consistent use of workforce data fields across NHS Wales MANAGERS Delegate to employees the appropriate access within audit/governance parameters STAFF Empower employees – direct access to all relevant e-tools In 2010, Workforce Directors developed a vision. ESR was the enabler of the vision

Journey so far: 2005/2006 ESR HR, Payroll and Recruitment implemented across 37 organisations in NHS Wales 2008/2009 Limited use of ESR functionality and data inconsistency across Wales 2011 Self Service Strategy for Wales Launched 2012 WfIS Programme transferred to NWSSP ESR Minimum Data Set agreed for Wales introducing consistency OLM identified as the Learning Management System for Wales Jan 2013 WfIS 2 Programme for Wales Launched 2008 ESR Wales Project closed 2010 WfIS Team established. WfIS Strategy and Governance Framework for Wales Launched
