Nervous System

The nervous system allows for communication between different parts of the body. This helps us to regulate our bodies.

Made up of? Divided into two parts: 1. Central Nervous System Includes brain and spinal cord

Made up of? 2. Peripheral Nervous System The rest of your nerves (neurons) found throughout your body

How does it work? It’s all about action and senses What happens inside & outside of your body Do not copy

How does it work? Nerves react to a stimulus (A change in the environment that you respond to)

How does it work? Nervous System regulates your body with electrochemical impulses (signals carried by the nerves) Draw picture here

Sensory vs. Motor Neurons Sensory neurons fire in response to stimuli in the environment Motor neurons cause muscles to react

Basically… Your five senses receive a stimulus in their sensory neurons The sensory neurons send an impulse to your brain Your brain responds and send an impulse to the motor neurons Motor neurons react THIS HAPPENS INSTANTANEOUSLY
