Galapagos tortoise. The Galapagos tortoise is the largest species' of tortoise. The tortoise is the 14th heaviest reptile. The tortoise can breathe whilst swimming by extending their neck’s and can survive for months with out food or fresh water.

Galapagos crabs. They have an amazing ability to move on water and grow up to 20cm.

Galapagos stingray Manta rays, Golden rays and Spotted Eagle rays. click to get back to map. There are more than 1 type of stingrays in the Galapagos. Spotted Eagle ray. Manta rays, Golden rays and Spotted Eagle rays.

Marine Iguana. Charles Darwin made observations on these peculiar Lizard like reptiles. These Iguanas are only found on the Galapagos islands.(There isn’t much food on land so they go under water and eat algi.)

Lava lizard. The lava lizards communicate by doing press ups. Lava lizards have attitudes like most animals so they don’t have much fear of humans.

Galapagos barn owl. The Galapagos barn owl is found on all the islands except Fernandina due to the introduction of mammals such as cats. The family of this animal has been scientifically called Tytonidea.(Pronounced Tie-Tawn-E-Dee.)
