How the University has cut back Facilities have been doubling efforts to optimize heating and electricity through improved scheduling and other methods that require no capital investment. Campus produces our own renewable energy (both wind tower (by Southwest/Bridgeway) and solar arrays (on Engineering Hall and Russel Hall)) A greenroof on GWAM further helps conserve energy

How YOU can cut back Dress for the weather. Use a fan instead of air conditioning to keep cool. If you do use a window air conditioner, set the temperature no cooler than 72 degrees F and turn it off when you leave.

How YOU can cut back (cont.) Close doors and windows to help keep heat in or out. Open up the blinds to let in natural light and then turn off the lights. Use table and desktop lamps rather than overhead lighting.

How YOU can cut back (cont.) Turn off devices when not in use, including computers, monitors, and printers. When washing cloths, use the spin cycle and then hang dry rather than tumble drying. Share appliances (e.g. communal refrigerators and microwaves) whenever possible. Unplug devices when fully charged.
