Bones, Articulations and Muscles

Skeletal System ° Is all of the bones in the body. The tissues tendons ligaments cartilage Teeth are also considered but they are not counted as bones.

Functions of bones Protection: Support: Main job of the skeleton is to provide support for our body. Protection: Protect your internal organs and fragile body tissues. Functions of bones Movement: Bones provide the structure for muscles to attach so that our bodies are able to move. At birth, you have about 300 bones Adults end up with about 206 bones.

Bone Structure

Major diseases of the bones

Osteomyelitis

Hereditary Dislocation of the Hip Dislocation of the Vertebral Column Hereditary Dislocation of the Hip

there are glands that secrete a fluid, which prevents rubbing bone to bone. This fluid is called synovial Joints the bones of the legs and arms are connected by movable joints. The bones are held together by ligaments.

Major diseases of the Joints Bursitis Arthrosis Arthritis
