Memphis City Services The mission of Memphis 311 is to provide optimum customer service and a positive experience to both our internal and external customers. In order to create a more efficient local government, we provide accessible information about City services and also help agencies provide an effective response to service requests in a timely and accurate manner. We will engage citizens and customers with respect, honesty, courtesy, and knowledgeable assistance on every call.

Purpose and Mission of 311 Phone Bank To alert the City of Memphis with the safety and aesthetic concerns of North Memphis via use of the City Services department. To increase the safety and appearance of our North Memphis neighborhoods. To bring attention to North Memphis. To let the City of Memphis know that we care about where we live!

Qualifying Requests Accumulation of junk, trash, and debris Open storage of material and furnishings Excessive weeds, grass, trees, and shrubs Street lights, power lines, and other MLG&W issues Drain flooding Garbage or Recycle pickup missed Maintain signs or markings Potholes Recycle or garbage bin request Sewer Backup Vehicle Violations Substandard home or business structures

FIRST ASKS!! Before you think about requesting a City Service… Is this on your property or a neighbor’s? If a neighbor’s, have you consulted them first? Will this result in a City service or Code Enforcement? (Remember Code Enforcements result in fines for the accused. We don’t always want our neighbors to pay!) Do I have all the information? Location and issue? Possibly a picture?

Procedures By Phone: Call 311 with issue category, description, location, and as many details as possible. (901) 636-6500 Animal Control: 362-5310 Drain Maintenance: 357-0100 MLGW: 544-6549 or 820-7878 Online Requests: go to http://www.memphistn.gov/Residents/311landingpage.aspx have issue, issue category, location, description, and picture if available APP Request: Smart Government App Memphis (iphone only) ** For all requests made, use “OGOR Memphis” as the contact .**

Follow-Ups The City says that all online requests can be tracked online, but requests made by phone must be tracked by calling 311. Using “OGOR Memphis” as a community agent will allow us to receive monthly reports of resolved city requests. This is how we will assess efficiency in our Phone bank project. After seeing that requests will be resolved, encourage others to use the hotline!
