2 Defining Blight The accumulation of junk, trash, garbage, litter (including illegal signs), refuse, overgrown vegetation, rubbish, appliances, debris, combustible materials, and junk or inoperable vehicles

3 Types of Violations • Accumulation of Junk, trash, and debris
• Maintenance of property (Tall Weeds and Grass) • Poorly maintained pools • Unsecured buildings • Illegal signs in public Rights of Ways

4 Blight Court Process Report a Blighted Property (311)
Complaint is routed to Code Enforcement Complaint Is Assigned to Field Inspector and inspections are made Property Owner is Researched and Verified Violation Letter / Court Summons Sent to Owner Blight Court Hearing Judgment issued Post Hearing Inspections Abatement / Cleanup

5 Condemnations Complaint Received
Investigated and processed by Neighborhood Improvement Placed on Metropolitan Council Meeting Agenda Action Taken by Metro-Council Property Cleared / Abated
