PD & Capacity Building Opportunities BEYS Committee June 12, 2014

Overview of Plan Origin Things to note PQI Leadership Team Rooted in demonstrated need in child care Based on Capacity Building (CB) guidelines which prioritize child care Partnerships leverage more opportunities as outlined in CB guidelines

Defining our Roles BEYS - Advisory CGS – Support & Reporting Communication within the community / organizations Build on plan with diverse community partners Create BEYS Criteria & Guidelines to be used for Local Knowledge-Sharing (LKS) Provide feedback on Annual Plan and Annual Report Logistics (co-ordinate times, places and topics; set pre-registration, provide reporting and evaluation templates) Use BEYS Criteria & Guidelines to create LKS opportunities Create and provide reporting template Provide Annual Report on PD / CB to BEYS and support their presentation to BSIPN

Network Communications Network Communication: PD & Capacity Building Opportunities– 2014 PD Description Admin Leadership College credit courses are part of the Organizational Management Post-Diploma Program. (Cambrian)  AECEO -Four workshops Panel Discussion on Professionalism in ECE Others TBA  AFESEO Conference One Day conférence at Boreal   Committee Training Series Chairing 101; Getting the Most from Committee Membership; Evaluating our Work; TBA Topics will make committee participation more meaningful while building capacity and leadership. Designate Reflections Communities of Practice – “Think, Feel, Act”. This full day workshop will bring together the early learning and childcare community who will work together to study the “Think, Feel, Act” Document. Designates reflecting on quality and Ministry Directives Inclusion / Diversity For Child Care and Community; CCR Special Needs Resource Training; Diversity Workshop Facilitation; Leadership Mentoring This ten week long journey will see an agency leader acting as a peer mentor to an eager team player. Just another step in “growing our leaders” in the early learning and child care community. Literacy / Numeracy Training Learning Language and Loving It; Teacher Talk; Math is Everywhere; Local Professional Knowledge-Sharing This program is to provide local professionals the opportunity to lead knowledge-sharing activities such as workshops or programs and to provide our community with a variety of training with a local flavor.   Pedagogical Support Through a combination of on-site observations, individual coaching, role modeling, team consultations, workshops, study groups and resources offered by Boreal, early learning teams will be supported in implementing the beliefs and values of an emergent curriculum. School Board Partnerships School boards will work together to provide PD opportunities specifically for third party providers working within the schools. They also will ‘open’ board early learning PD events to the community and promote community training within their boards. Triple P HIGH FIVE   This FREE full day workshop is for anyone working with children 6 – 12 years of age. Participants will learn activities and gain knowledge, tips and resources to enhance their programs quality.
