2 About PCNA PCNA is the leading nursing organization dedicated to preventing cardiovascular disease through assessing risk, facilitating lifestyle changes, and guiding individuals to achieve treatment goals. The mission of PCNA is to develop and promote nurses as leaders in the prevention of cardiovascular disease. The Preventive Cardiovascular Nurses Association was founded in 1993 with the mission “to develop and promote nurses as leaders in the prevention of CVD.” Since then, PCNA has since grown to more than 2,600 members and more than 25 chapters. PCNA works with liaison organizations to produce continuing education and career development programs which have been utilized by over 25,000 members and other healthcare providers. PCNA also develops and provides numerous opportunities for growth in leadership.

With over 31 chapters nationwide, our nurses can help promote CVD prevention at the local level by becoming a chapter leader. PCNA recently created a get involved page listing different leadership opportunities. These include projects, special events, chapters, committees, abstracts and awards, and communication! Also, our leaders are often called upon to give presentations to fellow nurses and the general public.

There are more than a dozen free online programs offering more than 30 CEs. We host an Annual Symposium, which, in 2017, will be held in Denver, CO. Each year, we also bring half-day regional fall and spring programs to our chapters, which are free to participants.

In the next week you will receive an with directions to fill out an online evaluation form. Once completed you will be sent an electronic CE certificate. Reminder: make sure you signed in as you entered the program. This is the only way we can you a link to the online evaluation.
