Stone Age to Iron Age Britain. Literacy (SPAG) – Genre: NON-FICTION - Persuasive Writing – Identify persuasive texts. Define term ‘fact’ & ‘opinion’ – use TV adverts, famous speeches and protest songs. Non-Chronological-Reports and Journalistic Writing – Revisit punctuation for direct speech. Write active & passive sentences using technical vocabulary. Compare direct and reported speech. CHORAL & PERFORMANCE POETRY – Identify features of performance poetry. Identify slang and & dialect. Understand use of subjunctive verb forms. Investigate onomatopoeia & alliteration. Plan and perform a poem. Oak Class Topic Web – Autumn term 2 - 2016 Numeracy Fractions & Division Place value, decimals & subtraction Measures – including time 3D shape and fractions Written multiplication, mixed calculations and word problems Science – ELECTRICITY (Electric celebrations) Design festive lights and decorations by: Identify how circuits work, Draw accurate circuit diagrams, Create festive lights and decoration, Test designs. Stone Age to Iron Age Britain. Geography/History Investigate life and daily tasks as an Iron Age villager. Learn about the origins of agriculture and its spread to Britain. Hill Forts: Use maps to identify local hill forts, Make a 3D contour model of map section with Hill Fort. Research into life of a fort in the Iron Age and find Hill First using grid references, Use a plan from an archaeological dig to draw/ build a structure. Art – Research and make Iron Age Torcs. Explore Iron Age tribal names and totem animals and design an authentic totem animal. D&T –Iron Age based - recreate a round house; weave with wool; cook oatcakes, make cheese and make a game (dice/knucklebones) Christmas Fayre - items for school business. P.E – Links with Geography ( map work/ running) Trail and treasure hunt Physical challenge and problem-solving activities. ICT – ANIMATION Design a short stop-motion animation. Identify what makes a good animation – plan using story boarding. Shoot and edit a group animation (How to avoid common mistakes/ review animation / hold a premiere event) R.E - Beliefs and Practices Religion: Islam Key Question - What does it mean to belong to a religion? Key Question: Why might Christmas be important to ourselves as well as (other) Christians?
