WP5: In Situ Monitoring This project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 727277

WP5: Aim WP5 In-Situ Monitoring (WP Leader: Alseamar): Partners will: upgrade existing monitoring systems (static and mobile) and integrate novel sensors for monitoring water properties as optical and acoustic sensors as well as microplastic sensors will be included in the standard operation of these systems; expand techniques to operate cameras and video-cameras on static and mobile monitoring systems; experiment with the new systems and identify drawbacks; develop systems for in-situ data transfer and uploading procedures to the ODYSSEA platform; experimentally operate the platform monitoring module and SeaExplorer gliders to collect real-time and near real-time data; train local partners responsible for Observatory operation ton systems operation and maintenance on monitoring procedures.

WP5: Work packages WP Name Partners WP 5.1 Manufacturing of equipement Develogic, Leitat, Alseamar WP 5.2 New sensors (modifications?) & implementation Develogic & Leitat, Alseamar WP 5.3 Training Develogic & Alseamar WP 5.4 Observatories deployment & functionning Develogic & Alseamar & all partners on charge of observatories

WP5: Deliverables Delivarables Name Partners D 5.1 System design & Manuals Develogic & Alseamar D 5.2 Data collection report D 5.3 Sensor assesment / measurement effectiveness

WP5: Key performance indicators Partners Observation planned vs observation realized Develogic & Alseamar End product improvment by the addition of this dataset Who? Local partners are able to maintain operations All partners having an observatory in their region

WP5: Risk Factor Risk / Barrier probability Effect on project Solution Develogic or Alseamar not fullfilling task low high Increase data collection by other partner by reallocating funding Equipement lost or broken medium Equipement is mobile and can be redistibuted. Spares will be included in project Local legislation prevent deployment, usage or data sharing Observatory can be relocated in another region. Some technical adjustments can be make. Lack of local technical possibility for real time data transfert (intermittent internet, no infrastructure to host systems , …) Observatories will be decided regarding those requirements / relocation is possible / technical solutions can be found)

Equipement list: Leitat Please insert description of the equipement you will provide to Odyssea and the work to be done in R&D Please add a picture or a drawing relevant to the sensor

Equipement list: Develogic Please list a description of all the material and the sensor that will be provided to ODYSSEA Please add a relevant picture

Equipment list: Alseamar Alseamar will provide 2 SeaExplorer gliders 3 payloads Payload 1 Seabird GPCTD + DO Wetlabs FLBBCD Payload 2 Acoustic recorder Payload 3 Microplastic sensor CTD (TBD)

Sensor & platform manufacturers For all equipment, a training will be provided to the observatorie’s personnel. The training will occurs at the manufacturer site. Training will be at the beginning of year 2 and it will last : XX days for Leitat sensor YY days for Develogic platform 5 days at Alseamar platform Manufacturer will provide maintenance on their system during the duration of ODYSSEA except in case of loss of equipment

WP5: Observatories

WP5 timetable

Methodology for the first 18 months Task 5.1 & 5.2 Month 0: Alseamar & Develogic should provide to Leitat the requirement to achieve in order to implement their sensor onto the platforms. Specifications are discussed in order to reach agreement Month 4 : End of preliminary design. A meeting or visioconference will take place to validate the preliminary design. 3D view of design, mass / volume / power budgets are done, … Month 8: End of detailled design. A meeting should take place in order to validate the design. Technical drawings of mechanical parts, PCB’s , .. Are done Month 12: Equipments have been built. Integration can start Month 18: End of integration

Methodology for the first 18 months Task 5.3 & 5.4 Month 0 to 6: Equipment providers should detail all the necessary tooling, knowhow or equipement in order to operate their system (i.e. in order to deploy a glider, a boat is needed. Minimum requirement is …) Month 6 to 12: data flow should be clarified, observatories partners should upgrade their equipment to be ready to welcome this new tools Month 12 to 18: Training should be organized. (how many seats, how many training sessions …)

WP5: conclusion Time to work…
