Spiritual Mountain CLIMBING Five Peaks Over Forge Road Isaiah 2:3 “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths.” Mt. Ararat / Mt. Moriah / Mt. Sinai / Mt. Carmel / Mt. Calvary

Five Biblical Mountains Noah on Mt. Ararat: Genesis 7:24-8:16 Abraham & Isaac on Mt Moriah: Genesis 22:1-18 Moses on Mt Sinai: Exodus 20:1-17 Elijah on Mt Carmel:1 Kings 18:21, 37-39 Jesus on Mt Calvary: Luke 23

Noah on Mt. Ararat Passage: Genesis 7:24-8:16 Lesson: Waiting Even when we are were God wants us to be, even on the mountaintop, sometimes we still must wait. It is in the waiting that God works Sometimes to teach us Sometimes to prepare the ground Sometimes for others Jesus’ Example 30 years before ministry 3 days in the grave 2000+ years waiting for his bride

Noah on Mt. Ararat Psalms 27:14- “Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!” Lamentations 3:26- “It is good that one should hope and wait quietly For the salvation of the Lord.” Galatians 5:5- “For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.” Isaiah 40:31- “But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.”

Abraham & Isaac on Mt. Moriah Passage: Genesis 22:1-2, 8-18 Lesson: Giving up what we love the most Abraham was asked to give up the thing he loved the most, the thing he waited 100 years for, in worship to God. Abraham trusted God enough to do it because he knew God. Are we willing to give up our precious treasures to God in worship and devotion to Him? Jesus’ Example: Matthew 26:39- “…Not my will but thine be done.”

Abraham & Isaac on Mt. Moriah Hebrews 11:17-19- “By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,  of whom it was said, “In Isaac your seed shall be called,” concluding that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead, from which he also received him in a figurative sense.” Philippians 3:7-9- “But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith.” Luke 14:26- “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.”

Moses on Mt. Sinai Passage: Exodus 20:1-17 The 10 Commandments List, Short Form You shall have no other gods before Me. You shall not make idols. You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Honor your father and your mother. You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. You shall not covet.

Moses on Mt. Sinai Passage: Exodus 20:1-17 Lesson: God tells us what to do God gives us His word with instructions on how to live. He doesn’t give us every scenario or all the details but he gives us guidelines for us to make decisions and choices that honor Him. Some things are obvious and others are more obscure Jesus’ Example: 1 John 3:23-24- “And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment. Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.”

Moses on Mt. sinai Acts 16:31- “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved…” Proverbs 3:5-6- “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” Matthew 22:37-40- “Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” 1 John 1:3- “Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.”

Elijah on Mt. Carmel Passage: 1 Kings 18:21, 36-39 Lesson: Stand up and choose Stand with the Lord, declare His glory and watch HIM work Stand up for the truth and not comfort “Partial obedience is disobedience” Sometimes you will stand alone Jesus’ Example: Hebrews 1:3- “…when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.”

Elijah on Mt. Carmel Psalms 107:2- “Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, Whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy.” Matthew 10:16-20- “But when they deliver you up, do not worry about how or what you should speak. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak; for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.” 1 Peter 3:15- “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.” Romans 10:14- “How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?”
