Improves utilization of capacity “ CDM Improves utilization of capacity This process, referred to as Collaborative Decision Making, does not create more capacity, but rather allows for improved utilization of that capacity by collaborating with all of the stake holders on the best solution to a given problem. By allowing the airlines and airports to participate in the decision making process the air traffic control authorities can assure that more fair, equitable, and operationally efficient decisions are made. CDM brings substantial benefits to all partners by improving the quality of information on which decisions are made. This will lead to enhanced operationally efficiency and facilitate optimum use of available capacity.  

Increase efficiency without impacting safety CDM Increase efficiency without impacting safety We have gained knowledge and been able to provide a better more predictable product by understanding the needs of our stakeholders. This knowledge has enabled us to create solutions that allow system users greater flexibility to manage their own business and economic decisions. The results are increased efficiency without derogating safety though education, increased communication, collaboration, and implementation with airlines and FAA field facilities. Not only will the CDM efforts improve efficiency in the NAS, promoting better allocation of resources and improved passenger service, but most important are the potential enhancements to aviation safety, which is and will remain the first precept in airline operations.

meeting their schedules. “Better Business Decisions” Collaborative Decision Making will give operators more flexibility to maximize their own efficiency in meeting their schedules. People want tangible results.. To shape the future of air traffic management, operators, airports authorities and regulators must feel they have something substantial to gain. The success of CDM will ultimately be determined by the tangible benefits it delivers. Commercial airlines certainly see the potential to improve decision-making processes, not only in regard to safety, but also for commercial gain. From the aircraft operator’s perspective, CDM gives the the opportunity to make better business decisions.

Stakeholders have greater flexibility to manage their own business and economic decisions. We have gained knowledge and been able to provide a better more predictable product by understanding the needs of our stakeholders. Commercial Aviation: An Economic Enabler The economic costs of air traffic delays to the economy are vast and far-reaching. Delayed flights affect not only the airline industry and the traveling public, but also businesses that depend on air traffic to generate revenue…. A healthy commercial aviation sector enables/fosters a thriving economy.

Economic Impact Aviation accounts for: 11 million aviation-related jobs $1.2 trillion in economic activity 5.6 Percent Contribution to Gross Domestic Product Adds $61 Billion to the US Trade Balance In every region of the U.S., communities depend on civil aviation to stimulate economic growth and strengthen business by linking economic activity through aviation to the larger global economy

High Benefits – Low Investment CDM brings high benefits to a wide range of partners with relatively low investment. CDM is not complicated and certainly need not be expensive. One of the main attractions is that it brings high benefits to a wide range of partners with relatively low investment. CDM process may be carried out by a human being, using nothing more complicated than a telephone and a pen and paper.
