Present Progressive (continuous) We use the Present progressive to talk about something that is happening at the moment we speak.

In order to form the present progressive tense, we use the verb to be and ing at the and of the main verb.

example I am riding my bike now. Personal pronoun Verb to be Main verb (ride) + ing Complement

Present progressive tense sentences I am talking to the teacher Present progressive tense sentences I am talking to the teacher. You are going to school. He is watching TV. It is raining today. We are working in England. They are playing outside.

Interrogative sentences Am I ____ teaching English? Are you ____ paying attention? Is she ____ looking at the teacher?

Placing ing after the verbs. The letter ‘e’ is the only letter that has to be substituted. Verbs ending in ‘e’. – drop the ‘e’ and place ‘ing’.

CVC = consonant vowel consonant When the verbs ends with this ending, we have to double the last letter only if the last syllable is the strongest or if it has only one syllable. Exemples: Swimming Getting Stopping

Verbs with two or more syllables Double the last letter only if the last one is the strongest. Beginning Preferring

Verbs ending in ‘ie’. If that’s the case, we have to drop the ‘ie’ and place ‘y’ and ‘ing’ in the end of the verb. Lie = lying Die = dying
