WHAT IS THE FISHER HOUSE? A comfort home, donated by Fisher House Foundation so that members of the military and their families may be together at the most stressful time – during the hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease or injury. There is at least one Fisher House at every major medical center to provide families with the comforts of home in a supportive environment.

About fisher house foundation Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher of New York founded the Fisher House Foundation, Inc with the intention of meeting a humanitarian need for our nation’s hospitalized military personnel, veterans and their families. 305,000 families served since 1990 $360 Million + in savings to families since 1990 7 Million Days of lodging Our Fisher House hosted 1,030 guests in 2016 and have saved military families almost $1.3 million since our opening in 2010.

Mission of FHEC Inc. To provide needed resources for military families in crisis and also to enable these families to stay together when a member is being treated in the local area. The mission of the Board of Directors of FHEC Inc. is to raise funds needed to support the FHEC Inc. Mission.

Fisher House Facts Who is eligible to stay at the Fisher House? Active Duty, Retirees and Veterans from all branches of the military and their loved ones (any branch, any length of time) Any local medical facility, military or civilian There is never a fee to stay at a Fisher House Average length of stay: 3 days Longest stay at our House has been 11 months Since opening in September 2010, we have military families over $1,252,000 in lodging and transportation In 2016, we hosted 1,030 guests.

VOLUNTEER – PARTNER – SHARE How Can You Help? VOLUNTEER – prepare a meal for our guests, help with an event, serve on a planning committee for future events Be a Cause Champion by hosting a fundraiser on our behalf Host a Needs List drive – collect every day items we need Partner by sponsoring an annual signature event Contribute, PayPal is live on the website! Dashboard and Notes Fisher House of the Emerald Coast Inc provides a home for military families when a family member is being treated at any local medical facility. It is provided at no cost to the families, is not funded by the government and relies on the community for support. It is available to any family with a member that has served or is serving in any branch of the military. 5. Dashboard a. Not only do we provide assistance to all families staying at the Fisher House of the Emerald Coast, we do all we can to help families stay together in a medical emergency. One example of this is when we flew in a Ranger’s mom to assist him through a surgery. c. Occupancy: Since opening in Sept 2010, the FHEC has served over 3049 guests and provided over 9720 bed nights. The 2014 average is 65 guests/month and 183 bed nights/month. In September, 49 guests for a total of 147 bed nights were served. d. How to support: i. Provide dinner to the guests. Tuesday and Thursday night vols provide and serve dinner to the guests. ii. Train to be a House Helper – work shift in evenings and/or weekends to assist families with any questions they may have. Training is provided quarterly. Next class is Oct Oct 6 from 5-7pm iii. Be a Fill the Pantry sponsor – donate $500 and you will be recognized as the pantry donor of the month with a plaque recognizing you as providing all the groceries that month. iiii. Join our database and be informed of upcoming events and volunteer opportunities. v. Make a donation either monetarily or by donating an auction item to our Fairways for Fisher House silent auction in Sept. vi. Be a part of the Fisher House by purchasing an engraved brick for $100 donation. vii. Attend or volunteer at an upcoming event 1. Oct 16-17 – Beer Fest 2. Dec 12 – Boot Bowl
