5. What is the Housing Stability Initiative ?
The Southwestern Newfoundland Housing Stability Initiative (HSI) is a collective group of stakeholders working collaboratively to develop and implement a regional “housing first” action plan. HSI is committed to providing opportunities for social inclusion and support for individuals with complex needs who may be homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Homelessness Partnering Strategy

community-based program aimed at preventing and reducing homelessness by providing direct support and funding to communities across Canada. 
CEN has received HPS funding to develop supportive housing for youth

16. Community Cafe
In 2011, the Southwestern Newfoundland Housing Stability Initiative launched their first Community Café. Hot home cooked meals, social activities and access to information and resources are provided.
A variety of businesses, community partners and volunteers contribute to the Community Café. Contributions include donations of money and food; assistance with food preparation, serving and clean-up; live music; and provision of information, resources and community services.
There are now two Community Cafés offered each month;
Second Thursday each month – Stephenville Lions Club
Fourth Thursday each month – Zion Pentecostal Church
Since 2011, over 16,000 free meals have been served!!! *

17. Community Cafe
The Community Café is open to all members of the community.
Individuals who are unable to prepare a healthy meal, are socially isolated or have limited financial resources, are encouraged and welcome to enjoy food, fun and friendship at the Community Café.
Each café is sponsored, either in kind and/or financially, by one or more community partners such as local businesses, faith groups, or service organizations.
