2 10 Years of Educational Opportunity for PA Students in Need A Chance for the Kids Who Need It Most!  Kids' Chance of PA provides financial support for college and vocational education, through scholarship grants, to children of Pennsylvania workers who have been killed or seriously injured in a work-related accident resulting in financial need.

3 10 Years of Educational Opportunity for PA Students in Need Who is Eligible to Apply for a Scholarship?  Applicants must be the child of a PA worker who was killed or seriously injured in a work-related accident that meets the criteria of the PA Workers' Compensation Act, and has demonstrated financial need.  Applicants must be within the ages of 16 to 25 and be accepted by an accredited, post-secondary educational institution. Graduate students are not eligible.

4 10 Years of Educational Opportunity for PA Students in Need What is the Application Process?  Each applicant completes an extensive application that is thoroughly reviewed by the Scholarship Committee.  Eligibility criteria require that the applicant’s parent(s) must have sustained a serious or fatal work-related injury / illness.  Scholarship awards are primarily based on the financial needs of the applicant.

5 10 Years of Educational Opportunity for PA Students in Need How are Scholarship Recipients Selected?  Applications are exhaustively reviewed and applicants are interviewed by members of the scholarship committee.  Committee members make their recommendations for approval to the scholarship committee.  Recommendations for individual awards are presented to the Kids' Chance of PA board of directors.

6 10 Years of Educational Opportunity for PA Students in Need Kids’ Chance Scholarships Awarded  Each year, deserving applicants receive awards ranging from $500 to $5,000 depending on demonstrated need and available funds.  Since 1997, Kids' Chance of Pennsylvania has awarded approximately $369,750 to 263 deserving candidates. 9 10 Years of Educational Opportunity for PA Students in Need How does Kids' Chance Raise Scholarship Funds?  Scholarship funds come through fully tax- deductible donations from individuals, companies, foundations, the United Way and various organizations active in workers' compensation matters and/or providing higher education opportunities to young Pennsylvanians. Annual golf outings raise additional scholarship funds.

10 10 Years of Educational Opportunity for PA Students in Need ACE INA Foundation Partners with Kids’ Chance to Award Scholarships  Since 2003, the ACE INA Foundation has generously provided special scholarship awards to top applicants demonstrating both exceptional academic promise and significant need.

11 10 Years of Educational Opportunity for PA Students in Need Introducing the NEW Kids' Chance Scholars Program!  Scholars Program sponsors contribute a minimum of $25,000 over a period of not more than five years.  Scholars Program sponsors may name the scholarship and recommend that it be awarded to a student pursuing a particular field of study.  At least ninety percent (90%) of the Scholars Program contribution will directly fund scholarships for deserving students.

12 10 Years of Educational Opportunity for PA Students in Need  Kids’ Chance of PA raises funds for operational support through the Corporate and Community Partner Program.  Partners include insurance companies, third party administrators, law firms, health and rehabilitation related organizations and professional associations such as the Workers' Compensation section of the Pennsylvania Bar and the Pennsylvania Self- Insurers' Association.
