English Areas of learning this term - (Reading,Grammar,Writing) Guided Reading daily (Focus on Comprehension) Grammar daily Writing for a purpose – making links to grammar Spellings Expectations of presentation Sats- Reading,Spag test Writing assessments (Teacher assessment -Collecting evidence)

Maths Areas of learning this term Written and mental strategies Reasoning - Real life problem solving Presentation of work To know by heart all the times tables up to x12 by the end of year 4 (daily practice). Sats- Arithmetic and two reasoning tests

Reading Please ensure that your child reads every night (20 minutes). Learning key words and asking questions about the books that they are reading. At least one reading journal task should be completed every week Reading Journal should be completed and signed daily

Homework Maths and English homework will be given weekly on a Friday It must be handed in by 9.00 am the following Wednesday Work relating to the half term topic Times table practise Daily reading

Targets Your child will have a reading, writing and maths targets These aspects of English and maths will be highlighted in the teaching for that half term Targets will be shared with parents Please do not hesitate to come in and ask for any advice or resources to help your child achieve their targets

Supporting your children Get them to school on time. Learning starts at 9am Support with home learning (Writing check list- please take one) Reinforce Targets at home Reinforce school expectations Correct school uniform

School uniform Only plain navy blue, school style jumpers, cardigans, or WTPS school sweatshirts White school shirt / polo shirt Grey skirt, pinafore dress or trousers Blue & white checked summer dress White / grey / navy blue headscarf Black shoes or trainers

Physical Education 6W-Monday and Thursday – PE and games kit 6T-Friday and Thursday – PE and games kit 6P-Friday and Wednesday – PE and games kit

PE kit (white t-shirt and black / navy blue shorts / leggings / jogging bottoms in cold weather) should be brought to school in a draw string PE bag (not a carrier bag). PE Kit
