Autumn Spring Summer There and Back Again History – Explorers from the past, Francis Drake and Neil Armstrong Art – Weaving DT – Making muesli bars Science – Materials and Seasons. Fire and Fury History – The Great Fire of London Art – Cityscapes Science – Animals, including humans and Seasons. Going for Gold Geography – Mexico Art – Printing. DT – Making a cape Science – Plants and Seasons.

Spring term – Theatre Group Summer term – Nower Wood or Wisley

7 Assertive Mentoring Targets
Each term the teacher meets each child individually and reviews readiness for learning. English and Maths objectives sent home at the beginning of each unit. After half term, 10 – 20 common exception words will be sent home on a half termly basis and will be assessed at the end of each half term in school.

8 Reading Parents to use orange Reading Record book to share children’s reading progress. Please make sure when you have listened to your child that it is recorded in their contact book. Teachers to record progress on assessment sheets at school. Words for the week.

9 Phonics The school is moving from Jolly Phonics and is starting to implement Read, Write Inc. We are reviewing all sounds that children have learnt using the new scheme as this approach differs from Jolly Phonics. Meeting 2nd October 2019.

10 Handwriting This year we will work on a more consistent letter.
The children will continue to learn form each letter correctly and join specific letters.

11 Homework Reading – 10 minutes each day
Spelling – set of words given each week to learn. It is then kept at home as a reference, so that parents can review over the year. There will be half termly spelling assessment. Given out on a Friday. Maths – 10 minutes a week. Will be from a worksheet, website or Mathletics. Given out on Friday and handed in on Wednesday. Mathletics – 10 minutes a week if not set as maths homework.
