Students YOUR SCHOOLS YOUR COMMUNITY MORE THAN 1,200 STUDENTS are taught by 26 business professionals on career readiness Business Cents provides students on how to prepare for the workforce. Through our seven courses shared by business professionals in the community, students learn of what is expected of them to gain employment. Overview: 1200 students participated 26 Professional Speakers 47 Sessions taught in high school 108 volunteer hours Business Career Prep teacher, Blanche Ruelas said, “Their presentations are very important for our students. These students need to know real world experiences. Topics like: job description, resumes, salary, job openings, applying online, interview process, benefits from the company, industry expectations, personal skills, soft skills required, keeping your profile clean, ( face book, twitter, etc.) are all very important for these high school students. YOUR SCHOOLS YOUR COMMUNITY MORE THAN 1,050 8TH Grade students participated 13 different business speakers Dream Big STEM Expo showcase career opportunities in the Victoria region and gives 8th grade students exposure to various career courses available to them at the Career and Technology Institute. Joseph Hotl, 8th grader at Cade Middle School shared, “ they showed me tons of things and I’ve changed my field of choice to a video game programmer.” The two day expo gives students the opportunity to explore and ask questions to professionals that can answer questions and give them guidance so that they may be successful. Incoming 7th grade students learn about setting goals, characteristics of a leader, being good stewards in the community, and that manners do matter. leadership skills through fun and exciting activities for one week in June.
