Fill in your CWL password in the next text input box Finally, you will need to enter “EAD\” followed by your CWL username and click “Sign In”

Skype for Business Interface

Presence Information Set or change your presence Presence lets other people see at a glance whether you and your contacts are currently available. Presence statuses and their meanings are as follows: To change your presence, in the Skype for Business main window, click the arrow next to your status, and then select a status from the list, such as Do Not Disturb. *Set automatically for you based on your keyboard activity or Outlook calendar ** You can set your presence to this anytime you want

Contacts Find someone The quickest way to find someone via Skype for Business is to start a search by typing the person’s name, phone number, or IM address in the Search box on the Skype for Business main window. The results display automatically. View a contact card The contact card contains details from a contact’s company directory, such as the person’s office location, phone numbers, organization, and Outlook calendar free/busy information. To see someone’s card, find the person on your Contact list or via search, and then click the circle with their initials. Add a contact Your Contacts list simplifies your communications and lets you see presence and contact information for the people most important to you. Add to it anyone – inside or outside your organization – you expect to be interacting with regularly. To add a contact: Using Skype for Business search, locate the person you want to add. (See previous section.) 2. Right-click the person’s listing in the search returns. 3. Hover on Groups. 4. Click a group to add your new contact to.

Contacts Create a group You can set up a group for each team you work with so that you can see at a glance who is available at any given time or communicate with the entire team at once. To create a new group: In the Skype for Business main window, while the Contacts tab is selected, right click in open space below your current contacts. In the popup, click New Group. In the space that opens up at bottom of the window, type over the phrase Untitled Group to give your group a name. Send an IM Use instant messaging (IM) to get in touch immediately with your available contacts. In the Skype for Business main window, click the name of the contact you want to send an IM to. Their contact card will appear, click the IM icon. Type your message in the message input area at bottom of the IM window, and then hit Enter.

Sharing and Collaboration - IM Find a previous IM conversation Skype for Business automatically saves your IM conversation history. To view or continue a previous IM conversation or see an IM request you may have missed: Click the History tab (on the Skype for Business main window on the left side). Switch between tabbed conversations If you have multiple conversations, chat sessions, or meetings going on at once, Skype for Business displays them all in one place, which lets you toggle between them. Click any tab to bring that activity to the foreground. Accept an IM request Click anywhere on the IM request pane.

Present Share your desktop Double-click a contact’s name to start an IM session. Click on the Share Screen button, and: Click Share Screen under the screen preview to show all the content of your desktop. A sharing toolbar appears at the top of the screen and you'll be notified that you’re sharing. To add audio, click the Phone icon. To add video, click the Camera icon. To end the sharing session, click Stop Sharing on the toolbar Share a PowerPoint presentation While in a conference call or Skype for Business meeting you have the ability to present a PowerPoint file. Click on the ellipses (…) button. Click Share PowerPoint File…, and select the file to share. To move the slides, click the arrows at the sides of the PowerPoint slides.

Skype for Business Meetings Schedule a Skype for Business Meeting You can simply schedule a Skype for Business Meeting by using the Outlook add-in for Skype for Business. Open your Outlook calendar and on the Home tab, click New Meeting. In the meeting request, add recipients, a subject, agenda, and date/time. In the ribbon menu bar click Online Meeting icon then click Add Online Meeting. The meeting request contains the meeting link and audio information that the participant can use to join the meeting or conference call. Set meeting options You can customize your meeting options to fit your requirements and the participants. For example, customize access, presenters, call settings, and so on. In the meeting request, click Online Meeting, then click Set Access Permissions… To control meeting access, select an option under Access, Presenter, and Phone. To choose presenters, select an option described above under Presenter tab.

Skype for Business Meetings Join a Skype for Business Meeting In the meeting request, click Join Online Meeting or click Join Online in the meeting reminder. In the meeting invite click on Join Online Meeting or the URL below. This will start your default web browser and will present you the Skype for Business Web App with more option to join the meeting, the Skype for Business client will then open and you will be joined to the meeting. Manage participants with Skype for Business for Mac Pause on the people icon to manage participants individually or as a group. 2. Under the Participants tab, right-click a person’s name and use the options to remove, Demote to Attendee, Mute or request for them to unmute.

Skype for Business Web Application If you or a meeting attendee do not have a Skype for Business client, they can still join a virtual meeting via the Skype for Business Web Application. To join a virtual meeting you will need to: Click on Join online meeting from the Outlook calendar item. If you don’t have a Skype for Business client on your machine this link will open in your browser. You will need to download a Skype for Business plug-in for your browser to access the meeting space. You can join as a guest or if you are a part of the organization that has arranged the meeting you can use your AD credentials to log in. (For meetings arranged by UBC be sure to include EAD\ as a prefix to your CWL username If you join as a guest to the meeting you will be placed in a lobby waiting room, people inside the meeting will have to admit you to the meeting. After being admitted you will be an attendee to the meeting

Skype for Business Video Set up your video device You need a camera to share your video, but you don’t need one to see other people’s videos. To set up your camera Click Skype for Business in the Skype for Business main menu, then click Preferences. In the new window click on the Audio/Video tab. If your don’t see your video preview, make sure the camera is working correctly and make sure the proper camera is selected in the drop down menu. Start a video call Click on a contact’s initials and click the camera button. 2. An alert pops up on your contact's screen to accept your call. 3. When you’re done, pause on the camera button and select an option: Stop My Video : ends your video and entire conversation. But if you have an active chat running, then chat session will stay active. TIP You can also start video call from selecting this option from the menu by right clicking on person’s contact.

Skype for Business Video Start a video conference Video conference is a video call between three or more participants. To Start an ad-hoc video conference to discuss a subject that requires immediate attention. Select one contact and start a Video Call. To add more participants just simply click the person icon in the top right of the Skype for Business chat window and double click on the users you want to add to the conversation. Answer a video call When someone calls you, an alert pops up on your screen. To answer the call, click on the Video Camera or Blue Phone icon. Click the Red Phone Icon to reject the call

Skype for Business Audio Call Make a Skype for Business call (computer audio) Click on a contact’s initials. Click the Phone button to call the contact using Skype for Business.

Skype for Business Audio Start an unscheduled conference call Start an ad-hoc meeting to discuss a subject that requires immediate attention. Select the contact and start regular call, chat or video chat with this person. Click on the person icon with a plus sign. Type in the name of the person you want to add to the chat and double click on the correct name. 3. Choose how you want to start the conference call: Skype for Business Call – Skype for Business makes the call using computer audio. Video Call – Skype for Business calls your contacts from the number you choose. Your contacts receive a notification, and can accept or decline your invitation. 5. During conference call you can see your participants.

Skype for Business Audio Add screen shot and instructions Use audio call controls Right click on the phone/mic button to access the controls: To put the call on hold, click Hold Call. Click Mute Microphone to mute your audio. To send the call to another number, click Transfer Call and choose one of the numbers. To hang up, click Hang Up.

Skype for Business Audio Start a conference call Select a contact from your list and double click on it. This will open chat window. Add other participants by clicking on the person icon with a plus sign then select other contacts. Choose how you want to start the conference call by selecting Audio Call or Video Call.
