2016/17 – Reforms relavent to Chapters/WGs Standardization of financial years Creation of funding reservoir Power of words Self-sustainability

Standardization of financial years All WGs and Chapters conclude their financial / operational year on the same date  last day of September every year CREATE WGs and Chapters throughout the year

Creation of funding RESERVOIR Support ACTIVE WGs and Chapters all along the financial year Top-up the budgets of WGs and Chapters once they exhaust the initial allocations Always submit a 5K Plan (activities for €5,000)

Self-sustainability: Think & Act Locally Provide assistance to chapter members Be creative and address local needs of members (trainings, grants, career plans, networking, etc.) Form collaborations and partnerships with local organizations, universities and companies Set annual targets, plan activities and generate revenue

Chapter Management Working Group (CMWG) Local Chapters are the interface between MCAA and its Members Offer Networking, Training, and Career Development Increase Participation of MCAA Members through Local Chapters

CMWG Aims Provide Support and Advice to Local Chapters Facilitate Establishment of New Chapters Develop “Best Practices” and Guidelines for Local Chapters Communication between MCAA Board and Local Chapters

CMWG Operations CMWG members from current and former chapter chairs Maintain regular contact with Local Chapter Chairs/Boards Attendance at various chapter meetings, especially new chapters Develop Documents and Tools for Chapters to share information: e.g., Best Practices, Newsletter Templates, Contact Lists

Local Chapter Activities Informal Networking Events: Very important for building a community Chapter Meeting: At least 1 per year, planning and organization Training Events: Soft-skills, Technical Skills, Career Enhancement Get quality speakers, collaborate with external organizations, consider sponsorship and fees Local Engagement: Science Events, Career Days, Lectures, Policy etc.
