Engaging students, our future alumni Admission Liaison Program Membership Scholarships Class Councils Trustees Even before a student takes a class at UVA we connect with them ….. If they are a potential legacy, they may use our Admission Liaison services …. They can become a member even before the enter a classroom … They may receive one of the 300 or more scholarships we support …

Engaging students, our future alumni Alumni Interest Groups UVA Fund Student workers & volunteers Student Group Sponsorships Awards We connect students through special interest groups and offer networking opportunities ….. We offer banking services to student groups (over 400) …. They work our Reunions … Nearly 300 students work reunions activities ….. Their student group may receive financial support …

Engaging students, our future alumni Student Membership More than 60 percent of the undergraduate student body are members of the Alumni Association. Alumni Hall sponsors various activities for students including seminars, dinners, annual Taste of Charlottesville and monthly bingo. Alumni Hall communicates with student members via email and a mobile app.

Engaging students, our future alumni Class Councils and Trustees Alumni Association staff advise four class councils. Each council has an average of 60 members. An estimated 200 student events are held with Alumni Hall support each year. Councils build class identity and unity for each class. The 4th year class council (Trustees) oversees the class giving program, assists with Graduation and the “What’s Next” Campaign.

Engaging students, our future alumni Throughout the fourth (senior) year, the Trustees and Alumni Hall sponsor activities and programs to prepare for the transition. Programs are funded by Alumni Hall, the University Career Center and the Dean of Students office. Engaging Young Alumni Post Grad Trustees Young Alumni Council What’s Next Emails and website Class E-Newsletters Collaboration with UVA Clubs YAR Gift for Grad Career Services

Engaging Young Alumni Post Grad Trustees Young Alumni Council Upon graduation, the Trustees (4th year council) serve four more years. They oversee communication to their respective class as well as advise on programming and events. Young Alumni Council The Young Alumni Council seeks to actively involve alumni who have graduated in the last 12 years. This Council has become a “think tank” for the University. They initiated Giving to Hoos Day and have conducted research on young alumni needs and interests. These groups meet twice a year.

YAR – Young Alumni Reunion Held Saturday night of Homecomings Weekend. The four most recently graduated classes are invited. Post-game party that features free beer, a band and a photo booth. It draws 4,000-plus.

Engagement – Special Interests Alumni Interest Groups – 46 total and growing Networks of alumni who shared common interests as students. AIGs allow alumni to stay in touch with each other, create a community. They send a special invite to recent graduates. Fraternities & Sororities Athletics /Specialty groups Asian Pacific American Alumni Bolivar Cavalier Daily Eli Banana Jefferson Debating Society Madison House Raven Society Ridley Serpentine U Guides Glee Club A staff of five service Alumni Interest Groups. They oversee communications, fund-raising and event organization.

Career Services Programs Friday Forums UValumni JOBS.com Alumni Career Services This office provides career management resources for alumni, from getting a job to applying to grad school to planning for retirement. Programs Friday Forums UValumni JOBS.com Career Advising Graduate School Advising Job Search Tool Kits Employer Relations Two full-time advisors and a full-time administrator work in career services.

Career Services Recent graduates have access to University Career Services for six months after graduation. Life members have free career advising with Alumni Career Services during the final semester, but are encouraged to use UCC until after graduation. Following graduation, Alumni Hall and UCC send an email to recent graduates outlining services available. In November, recent grads are sent another email (from Alumni Hall and UCC) notifying them that UCC services are concluding, but they can contact Alumni Career Services. Alumni Career Services offers assistance with graduate school applications, resumes and networking. New graduates have access to the UVA Linked In group and to uvajobs.com.

Engagement - Communication Magazine Mailed quarterly to alumni, friends, parents and students. E-Magazine Sent the months we do not produce the magazine. Alumni Forum Found on the website, this is an opportunity for alumni to voice their concerns. This forum is very active during times of turmoil. Membership E-Newsletters Birthday Email

Communication – Young Alumni What’s Next Emails Begin January of 4th (senior year) Continue for a year Contain helpful career and life information Class Newsletters Sent to the class as undergraduates Sent monthly after graduation Created by the post-graduate trustees Membership E-Newsletters Sent monthly Often send a different version to Young Alumni Facebook groups, twitter, Instagram accounts

GIFT FOR GRAD 2016 campaign 478 Life Memberships 2017 campaign so far Market memberships for soon-to-be graduates to parents. Campaign begins in September of the final year of school. Email solicitations sent each month to parents. Direct mail piece sent in mid-March. Campaign continues through the summer. For those who are members (joined as a student) a letter is sent to the parents one month before the new graduate receives a payment notice. 2016 campaign 478 Life Memberships 2017 campaign so far 126 Life Memberships
