Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both . Roads and yellow are consonance because they both have the sounds o in the middle and end of the words. He’s saying that he must choose one path to follow because as a person, you cannot go two different paths at once. He had to make a decision and keep with it. https://c1.staticflickr.com/7/6091/6280078972_18e71fcb9a_b.jpg

And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; The poet is saying that you cannot predict what’s going to happen, unless you take that path. He is trying to look as far as he can and see what there is but still can’t seem to decide which path is better. He just has to choose one then go with it and see how it leads up to. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/4f/d5/39/4fd539176549c72946cc3e9b51b3d019.jpg

Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same, The grass wanted wear is a personification because grass can’t actually wear anything. The grass wanted wear means that it wanted to be stepped on, no one took that path and he will be the first to step on it and experience it. http://previews.123rf.com/images/ppart/ppart1411/ppart141100015/33216281-A-man-walking-along-a-forest-path-in-autumn-Stock-Photo.jpg

And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! When he came back in the morning, the leaves aren’t stepped on yet so he will be the first. His tone is kind of regretful when he said he kept the first for another day because he’s regretting his choice and will come back to the path he missed. https://images.rapgenius.com/33abaf5d90b747212df536d5a75c2cb6.532x800x1.jpg

Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. He said he doubted if he should ever go back because he can’t decide on if he should go back to the other path because maybe this path may not be what he expected or wanted to be. He also repeated way, so repetition.

I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-- I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. The narrator is saying that maybe ages and ages later, he would be saying this with a sigh, as in feeling relief or regret and the path he choose made his life different. I is a repetition as well because it’s sort of a stutter to what his conclusion is.

The End
