Why take Honors / AP classes ? HOPE takes away the 5 and 10 points So Why take the classes? Academic rigor Admission to College Better prepares you for post-secondary

HOPE Must maintain a 3.0 for all 4 yrs You lose the points awarded for honors and AP classes Get a .5 added back in AP classes Only counts your core academic and foreign language CTAE classes that count as a core academic can also count toward HOPE Ex. 3rd year Foods Class (Foods Science)

HOPE High school classes taken in middle school do not count toward HOPE GPA. Does not pay for remedial classes No book or fee allowances Once HOPE is awarded if student falls below a 3.0 while in college they can only regain HOPE one time. HOPE GPA is checked at the 30 hrs, 60hrs, 90 hrs

Purpose of Pathways To expose students to possible careers Many students choose pathways based off what friends take not their own interest When looking at pathways it is good to talk about jobs that are related to the pathway GA Futures is a great resource for these jobs and it will list income potential

What is a pathway completer A student who successfully completes 3 classes in a sequence To earn a cord at graduation the student must also pass the End of Pathway test.
