The OS X 10.5 comes with updated printer drivers already installed in them and thus users do not require download or installation of driver software separately. If required drivers are not pre-included, a user can download them anytime from Apple's website (macupdate.com).

 After installing drivers (in case they were not pre-installed), connect your printer to your Mac PC using USB cable. Click on Apple menu, go to System Preferences, and choose Print & Fax. Verify that your machine is listed on the left-hand side of the Print & Fax dialog box. Click on it and then press Open Print Queue button.

 If you can't find your machine inside this list, then click on + sign button at the bottom left-hand corner. Click on the Add link and then mention all the details asked for. After that type or select a name of your HP machine inside the box next to Protocol, fill in your address, you can leave Queue box blank, but do fill in other details. Go on dropdown menu next to Print and click on Select Printer Software. Select your desired printer driver software from their list. At last, press Add button to create a new print queue.

 Following, choose your printer from their list in its left-hand corner side display and press Open Print Queue button. Go to Printer Setup button and confirm (verify) the Name and Location in relevant boxes, verify and/or modify other details, and then press OK button.
