Transition Attainment Record (TAR)  The TAR: ● Is in a rating scale format, ● Assesses specified standards, ● Is scored by the educational team, and ● Contains student interview. 3 OAA:DAS:KO/09/2016

Participation Guidelines – Pg. 3  Participation is an Individual Education Program (IEP) decision.  There is one set of participation guidelines for both the Attainment Tasks and the TAR.  The Participation Guidelines are found in Infinite Campus (IC) and completed as part of the Admissions and Release Committee (ARC) process in developing the IEP. 4 OAA:DAS:KO/09/2016

Grade Levels Requirements – Pg. 3  Administered at grade 11 (may be given at grades 12 and 14 for anyone not meeting reading and mathematics benchmarks).  Assesses items linked to grade level content standards in reading, mathematics, and science.  Mirrors the ACT. 5 OAA:DAS:KO/09/2016

TAR at Grade 12  Repeat the form for Grade 11 TAR.  Available for Grade 12 Students who did not meet benchmark in Reading or Mathematics (in grade 11): Reading- 19 Mathematics-16  No science assessment required at grade 12.  DAC, DoSE or district level administrator must contact Kevin O’Hair and ask to have the TAR given at grade 12 opened for score entry.  REMINDER: TAR meets CCR (alternate readiness) requirements for Alternate Assessment students. 6 OAA:DAS:KO/09/2016

TAR at Grade 14  Only available for students who have not had a graduation code applied at the end of grade 12  Repeat the form for Grade 11 TAR  Available for Grade 14 students who did not meet benchmark in Reading or Mathematics (at grade 11 or 12) Reading- 19 Mathematics-16  No science assessment required at grade 14 7 OAA:DAS:KO/09/2016

TAR at Grade 14 (continued)  Since grade 14 students are not pulled through Infinite Campus, any student you wish to provide the TAR to at grade 14 must be registered in the Student Registration Database by the DAC, DoSE or someone with district level access.  DAC, DoSE or district level administrator must contact Kevin O’Hair and ask to have the grade 14 TAR opened for score entry REMINDER: TAR meets CCR (alternate readiness) requirements for Alternate Assessment students. 8 OAA:DAS:KO/09/2016

Test Security OK  Know the concepts and teach those concepts.  Review TAR and complete until May 26,  File any notes from the TAR administration in the AAAF. Not OK  Reproduce test materials.  Share test items with anyone not involved in administration of the test without permission.  Use test items to prepare students for the assessment. 9 The TAR is considered secure testing material OAA:DAS:KO/09/2016

Timelines – Pg. 5 To download the TAR, log onto the Online Training System (OTS) and go to the Transition Attainment Records tab under Teacher Tools. Complete the TAR anytime after test administrator training and certification. Recommend completing the TAR in conjunction with Transition Planning meeting or the Annual Admissions and Release Committee (ARC) meeting if possible. The TAR must be completed by May 26, TAR scores must be submitted in the Student Registration Database (SRD) by June 2, OAA:DAS:KO/09/

Administrators – Pgs  Certified staff members  Part or all of the instructional team ● Special education teacher ● General education teacher ● Related service providers, guidance counselor, school psychologist, etc. ● Paraprofessionals (may provide information but may not score) OAA:DAS:KO/09/

Steps to Completing the TAR Pgs Lead team member completes the online training and quiz. 2.Sign a Code of Ethics and file in AAAF. ● The lead team member ● Any certified staff assisting with the assessment ● Anyone assisting with the TAR who is not a school employee must sign a non-disclosure form and file it in the AAAF. 3.Review all standards and possible documentation locations. OAA:DAS:KO/09/

Steps to Completing the TAR - Continued 4.Consult with team members ● Determine student performance on each item ● Use team consensus (described on pg. 9 of Administration Guide)  When team members cannot agree upon performance rating the lower of the two ratings must be used. OAA:DAS:KO/09/

Steps to Completing the TAR - Continued 5.Respond to every item and record documentation location. 6.Design and utilize an assessment activity when unsure of student’s current performance (page 9 of Administration Guide). 7.Review the TAR to ensure everything is complete. 8.Make sure the student interview has been completed. OAA:DAS:KO/09/

Items Rating Scale – Pgs  0 – Does not demonstrate skill  1 – Developing/Prompted ● If an item contains two parts (e.g., Mathematics item 3 at grade 10: The student is able to identify the origin and choose the appropriate scale to graph given data) and the student completes only one part, then the student would receive a 1.  2 – Independent/Mastered OAA:DAS:KO/09/

Documentation – Pg. 8  AAAF (the Alternate Assessment Accountability Folder required for the Alternate K-PREP would also include any assessments designed for TAR administration)  ILP (current Individual Learning Plan or the most current transition planning documents)  Student’s working folder (due process folder, classroom working folder, etc.)  Other __________________  No previous documentation OAA:DAS:KO/09/

Rating of Student Performance  Should provide an accurate representation of student performance.  The team should develop a common understanding of the items, standards and their enduring understanding.  Provide a means for the student to use his/her modality of communication to demonstrate the skills. (pointing, eye gaze, etc.) OAA:DAS:KO/09/

Sample Rating  Item: The student is able to identify the central idea of a text.  Observation: the student independently scored an 80% or higher on his class work sample for the reading standard and IEP monitoring  Rating: 2  Documentation: IEP monitoring folder or the student working folder OAA:DAS:KO/09/

Sample Rating  Item: The student is able to identify the scale of a given graph or data display.  Observation: IEP data shows that the student could do this but only with verbal prompting.  Rating: 1  Documentation: Student working folder OAA:DAS:KO/09/

Sample Rating  Item: The student understands that a sailboat is powered by the wind in order to move forward.  Observation: No previous observation had been made so the team created an assessment activity. The assessment showed a boat on a lake with the question about what makes it move. Then gave the student three answer choices. The assessment also included two other items related to motion. The student did not answer correctly even when given prompts.  Rating: 0  Documentation: AAAF OAA:DAS:KO/09/

Quick Review  Review TAR Administration Guide.  Complete the qualification quiz.  Download the TAR document.  Rate items along with team members. OAA:DAS:KO/09/

Quick Review (continued)  Complete the student interview.  Complete the TAR by May 26,  Make sure all team members are listed on the completed TAR document.  Store completed TAR in the AAAF.  Enter scores in the Student Registration Database no later than June 2, Click here to take the Transition Attainment Record Quiz OAA:DAS:KO/09/
