2.5 years of being a union! It was a snowy winter in 2014, when we offically became a union… What we have achieved since unionizing and negotiating our first contract? SALARY/ WORKLOAD/JOB SECURITY  Salary increases, Merit Pay, Equity, Promotions  More lecturers at 1 FTE  Clear processes for observation & evaluation  Longer appointments  Gender / Equity Study getting underway BENEFITS  Benefits have stayed the same, incl Parking, But we do have an interesting Open Enrollment coming…  Sick Leave, Bereavement, Parental, Military, Jury Duty leaves…all established  Pedagogical development $ and Leaves REPRESENTATION  A Grievance process that is WORKING  A seat at the table, a voice, respect…  Interventions to prevent layoffs, etc  Faculty Senate representation  Lecturer voting in departments and colleges

Academic Year New Minimum Salaries for FTE Lecturer $54, FTE $47,730 1 FTE Senior Lecturer $65, FTE $57,280 1 FTE Principal Lecturer$78, FTE $68,730 Rank Assessments: 64% of us are at the rank of Lecturer 23% of us are at the rank of Senior Lecturer 13% of us are at the rank of Principal Lecturer And these numbers will keep growing with more promotions this AY FTE Status Distribution: FTE StatusPercentage < 0.751% 0.753% % %

Results of online voting: Special Election  Announcement of our new Vice President, Nena Stracuzzi. And thank you those who nominated and ran.  A special THANK YOU to out-going Vice President Anna Sandstrom, in appreciation of her selfless service to our union by stepping in for our esteemed former Vice President, Trevor Verrot.  Next election: February 2017 for President, Secretary, Communications Chair & one At Large Member of the EC

Union Membership  Our membership status as of  174 Members 41 Agency Fee Payers 81% membership rate  All enjoy and help fund the benefits of the union’s work: negotiating contracts, protecting members.  Everyone is treated equally. Though only members can vote and serve.  #s = strength  Our relationship with AAUP is strong, and we continue to receive direct benefits from our membership in an esteemed national union

What do our dues/fair share pay for?  UNHLU Local Union: staffing, office, communications, insurance, accounting, auditing, printing, maintaining website, legal counsel, arbitrations…  AAUP National Union: Research, Education/Training, Legal defense at the highest levels, Publications (ex. Paychecks), Direct support for Organizing and Collective Bargaining, funds for professional devel, & many other benefits. *Also, less tangible, but even more important, the clout of having an esteemed national union at our back. *And, we are paying forward for other groups, the same outstanding support we received when we organized.

Still so much we can all do…  Attend meetings/events/presentations  Organize conversations within your department and college  Visit the Website, Fb, Twitter and comment  Propose/ write / take photos for articles for the website  Speak up. Volunteer for the ‘CAT team’.  Run for Office in Spring: President, Secretary, At-Large, Communications EACH and ALL of US = the Union

And now it’s almost time to negotiate again…  We are now in the 3 rd (last) year of our CBA, with all the benefits (and complications) thereof.  CBA II will be extremely interesting….  Negotiating Team for CBA II John DeJoie, CHHS Catherine Moran, Co-lead, COLA Jessie Morrell, COLSA Adam St. Jean, Co-lead, CEPS Israel Yost, CEPS

Your Rights and Responsibilities..  A word from Contract Administrator & Co-lead Negotiator, Adam St. Jean and Grievance Chair & Co-Lead Negotiator, Catherine Moran.  Grievance = Process for Conflict Resolution & Contract Defense.

WE SUPPORT!  We are providing counsel and assistance to UNHPA: almost 2 thousand UNH PAT and OS employees as they currently go through the same process we did… [ NEA-NH ]  Adjunct union coming next?  Clinical faculty?  And of course, continued support of Tenure Track AAUP

Questions for your officers…  Time for questions…  Thank you for attending!
