Building and Renovation

Campaign Prayer Heavenly Father, we thank You for the many blessings You have bestowed upon us, especially the gift of eternal life by faith in Your Son Jesus Christ. No other common bond can draw diverse people together like our congregation gathered around Jesus. As our congregation continues to grow, we have prayerfully decided to expand and enhance our building. Please guide us as we move forward with our building & renovation campaign to reach out to our members for prayers and financial gifts. May this project be a labor of love and fulfill the mission of Your church. Amen.

Timeline of Building Renovation Parking Lot was in bad shape and getting estimates for the same size - $250,000 – problem was drainage. Discussion from that, “What really needs to be done with our facility and property?” ELCA, Pat Dever came in to evaluate the building, sanctuary, parking lot, programming and activity in comparison to the size of congregation. Look proportionally at size of rooms, person space needed, etc Congregation, staff, etc were surveyed at needs and issues – looked at everything. CtK is a growing congregation and the needs for expansion were evident

Timeline of Building Renovation A Building Team was organized to get a design to consider all the options of needs for ministry. Boldt, Miron, Hoffman, Keller, and others were considered based on credentials and experience. Hoffman was selected to make architectural renderings.

Timeline of Building Renovation Spring Mark Davy & Associates were selected to handle our “Campaign Readiness Study.” (James Co., John Gillespie, Rawhide/Bayside, Mark Davy & Associates) Fall Parking Lot was replaced and expanded, along with a required retention pond. All but the top coat was completed. (9 months or longer are needed to let the substrate and blacktop settle, before putting on the “top course” or top coat)

Timeline of Building Renovation A Special Meeting was held to allow more people to attend and to determine direction for congregation. It was determined to use Mark Davy & Associates to handle our Building & Renovation Campaign. Building & Renovation Campaign Committee was formed

Brief Explanation of Building Projects

Phase A PARKING LOT While the parking lot has been expanded, we need to add the “surface course,” or top layer. This will complete the project and will ensure that our parking lot will be in great shape for many years to come.

Phase B SANCTUARY EXPANSION & ENHANCEMENTS Updating and increasing the size of the sanctuary is important to accommodate growth and be able to continue to reach others for Christ within the community. This vision will also entail updating the sanctuary with audio-visual capabilities/projection and an improved sound system to enrich worship. Addition of a sprinkler system throughout the entire building to meet new building code regulations.

Phase C NARTHEX AND NURSERY EXPANSION Increase the size of the Narthex to accommodate fellowship time after worship. Increase the size of the Nursery to accommodate the growing number of children.

Phase D EDUCATION CLASSROOMS The expansion includes modifying and adding classrooms for a comfortable capacity for learning to occur on Sunday mornings. The approximate cost estimate for the total project is $1,800,000 based on 2017 construction.

Campaign Commitments – 1 theme, 2 appeals One-year commitment to the Annual Stewardship Drive AND a three-year commitment to the Building & Renovation Campaign. All members will be receiving pledge information in October.

Request for Prayers Please, pray for the church and the members now through October as each family considers how they will respond to the campaign. Pray for the people working on the project. Pray for those paying visits to member’s homes. Pray for CTK in general!
